Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER/Med-Surg Swing position at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and the ability to rotate between day and night shifts.

Details

• Acute care setting within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) designated as a Trauma Level IV, STEMI Receiving, and Stroke Center facility
• ER/Med-Surg Swing unit with 4 beds and 2 trauma bays, averaging approximately 10 patients treated per day
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER; no separate fast track or triage area
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms are available on the unit
• RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips using Mindray monitors
• No Respiratory Therapy on staff in the ER; RNs manage RT equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow
• Lab staff perform phlebotomy draws
• EMR: Point Click Care (PCC)
• 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights (7a–7p and 7p–7a); block scheduling considered
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holidays required if they fall within the blocked schedule
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating required to Med/Surg and Swing Bed, which are on the same unit

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (Standard or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Required certifications (all must be active; pending not accepted): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Previous Med-Surg experience required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• A valid driver's license must be provided for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates who have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift (7a–7p or 7p–7a)
• Navy blue scrubs required
• All RTO must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• An ED physician is on staff; a charge nurse is present each shift and takes a patient assignment
• Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters are available on an on-call basis
• No monitor techs in the ER; RNs independently read telemetry strips
