Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III trauma facility requiring C-section experience, fetal monitoring proficiency, and high-risk OB skills.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a Level III trauma designation
• Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
• Averages 1–3 births per day (~830 births per year)
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Nurse may function in both L&D and couplet care roles depending on census
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
• One on-call shift per 4-week schedule required
• May float to the ED or Med/Surg unit if experienced
• Charting system: Allscripts
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• C-section experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and clinical response to fetal distress required
• Experience managing high-risk OB patients, including pre-eclampsia
• Strong independent assessment skills and ability to manage OB emergencies prior to provider arrival, as OB/Neonatologist is not in-house

• Respiratory Therapist available on the unit 24/7
• Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Secretaries, OB Scrub Techs, and Health Unit Coordinators (HUC)
• Nurse Manager available on unit as needed
• 24/7 in-house pharmacy available
• Orientation is held every Monday and consists of 8 hours
