Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at an Illinois acute care hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Work in a 24-bed acute medical/telemetry unit with an average daily census of 16–18 patients
• Patient population consists of acutely ill adults and geriatric patients with general medical, surgical, or infectious disease diagnoses that may require telemetry monitoring for non-acute cardiac conditions
• Procedures and care include pre- and post-procedure evaluation, advanced medication infusions (decrease/weaning permitted; titration up is not), and neurological assessment and care for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and TIA patients
• EKG rhythm identification and management of non-titrating cardiac drips are performed on this unit
• Excludes patients with active/unstable GI bleeding, uncontrolled ischemic chest pain with unstable vital signs, continuous NPPV, or requiring medications such as Tenecteplase (TNK), insulin drip, Neosynephrine, or Nipride
• Day shift: 7:00–19:30 (3x12-hour shifts)
• Shifts are required on both weekdays and weekends
• No on-call responsibilities
• Night shift staffing ratio is 1:5
• Epic EMR — experience preferred
• Floating required within service line and scope of practice

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required (pending IL license not accepted)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Certification preferred: Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm identification, and care for acutely ill adult and geriatric patients
• Navy scrubs required

• Former permanent employees of this health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
