Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 22 patients
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope is required, including to affiliate hospitals nearby
- Charting performed in Cerner
- Parking is available on-site at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
Requirements
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
- Ortho trauma experience required
- Experience with surgical drains required
- Cardiac monitoring skills required: telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
- GI case skills required: colostomy care, feeding tube care and management
- GU/Renal skills required: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Medication administration experience required: heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Neurological experience required: spinal cord injuries
- Respiratory skills required: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, pre/post thoracic surgery, and tracheostomy management
- Additional skills required: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Block schedule requests may be discussed with the manager
