Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiovascular Technologist with 2+ years of Cath Lab experience for a 13-week assignment in a combined Cath Lab/IR/Hybrid setting in Olympia, WA.
Details
- Work setting includes 1 Cath Lab room, 1 IR room, and 1 Hybrid room in a non-trauma designated, 107-bed facility
- Cath Lab procedures include LHC/RHC, diagnostic and interventional cath, IABPs, Rotablator, STEMIs/MIs, pacemakers, generator changes, and MICRAs; Impella experience preferred; no EP/ablations performed
- IR procedures (experience preferred, training provided) include chemo/coil embolizations, nephrostomy tubes/nephroureteral stents, central lines, ports, G/GJ tube placements and exchanges, IVC filters, tunneled and temporary dialysis catheters, Inari/Penumbra/EKOS for clots, and shockwave; will assist CT/MRI with biopsies; no Neuro IR or Y90s performed
- Hybrid procedures (experience preferred, training provided) include AAA grafts, peripheral/AO runoffs, and fistulograms
- Each room operates with a 3-person team; no CVOR backup on site
- Daily caseload ranges from 7–14 cases
- EMR: Epic; hemodynamic monitoring via Maclab; all C-arms are GE; injectors include Assist and MedRad; IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
- 10-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–4:00 PM, with rotating days off
- On-call required: 1–2 weekday call shifts per week (end of shift until following morning) and 1 weekend per month (end of shift Friday through Monday morning); 30-minute response time required
- Call team typically consists of 2 Techs and 1 RN
- Weekend rotation is call only; holidays are call only on an every-other basis
- May require occasional floating to the OR to assist with vascular cases
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience required; combined Cath Lab and IR experience strongly preferred
- Must have experience at a Level III or higher Trauma Center
- RN candidates: current BLS and ACLS required
- RT candidates: current BLS, ACLS, and ARRT or RCIS certification required
- RN candidates must be able to read/interpret EKGs, circulate, sedate, and transport patients
- RT candidates must be able to scrub and pan simultaneously and perform room turnover; experience with the Assist injector and Manifold preferred
- License required if applicable
- At least 1 supervisory reference required for consideration; a 2nd reference will be required prior to start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RN candidates are required to complete the MHS Telemetry test prior to arrival
- Travelers with no IR experience will receive approximately 2 weeks of orientation; those with IR experience will receive approximately 1 week
- Travelers will take buddy call during the orientation period
- Department support includes a Charge Nurse or Lead Tech daily, 24/7 phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalist coverage, and IR/cardiologist and intensivist available on-call during off hours
- Scrubs and lead aprons are provided; extended sizing available for both — notify manager if extended sizing is needed
- RTO of up to 7 days may be self-approved; holiday time off or requests exceeding 7 days require manager approval
