Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence facility in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a Medical/Surgical Overflow unit at a 457-bed, Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Patient population includes chronic diseases, CHF, mental health, addiction services (including patients requiring 6-week IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); ratios may surge to 1:7–8
- 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1900, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics) — candidates who are not willing to float to all facilities within the region should not apply
- Within Stanly, floating may include Med/Tele, ICU, PCU, ED holds, and Behavioral Health (limited to medication pass and charting only)
- Travel time between facilities when floating mid-shift is compensated
- EMR: Epic
- Equipment used includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and Doppler
- 6-week scheduling cycles; block schedule requests cannot be accommodated
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- General Med/Tele skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes and drains, IV insertion, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
Additional Information
- Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of time off (excluding holidays) may be approved; any unmet contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
- Orientation includes a NEO component and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Department is supported by a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, a Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
- Navy blue scrubs required
