Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring CVICU experience and advanced cardiac equipment proficiency.
Details
- CVICU setting within a 554-bed Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital that also serves as a children's hospital
- Critically ill cardiovascular patient population with diagnoses including CABG, aortic aneurysm repair/dissection, femoral-popliteal bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Weekends required on an as-needed basis
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (for admitted patients), and PACU (for admitted patients)
- Charting in Cerner
- Black scrubs required
- No parking fee
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; CVICU experience preferred
- Proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment including CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, and ART lines
- Experience with bedside procedures including tach/PEG placement, CRRT, chest tube management, Foley insertion, and NG tube placement
- Experience with post-op open heart patients required
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a provider-signed exemption form
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Care for critically ill cardiovascular surgery patients including post-op open heart cases
- Equipment used includes CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladderscanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Philips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, GlideScope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and BairHugger
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; all time-off requests should be disclosed upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
