Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment including ECMO, IABP, and Impella.

- CVICU unit within a 554-bed Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital with a Children's Hospital
- Patient population includes post-op open heart surgery (CABG, aortic aneurysm/dissection repair), cardiac arrest, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, femoral-popliteal bypass, endovascular repair, MODS, and sepsis
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Weekends required as needed
- No on-call requirements
- May be floated to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (for admitted patients), or PACU (for admitted patients)
- Specialized procedures include post-op open heart care, bedside trach/PEG, bedside surgical procedures, CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, CVCs, chest tubes, Foley insertion, and NG tubes
- Equipment used includes CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladder scanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Philips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, GlideScope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and Bair Hugger
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Black scrubs required
- No parking fee
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- CVICU experience preferred
- Proficiency with advanced cardiac support equipment (ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters) required
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Pending NM or Compact RN license accepted
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; all time off requests must be submitted at the time of application
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark at this facility are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- 13-week contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
