Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient Medical Oncology clinic position in Concord, NC, requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience and the ability to independently manage clinic operations including chemotherapy administration and patient triage.
Details
- Outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic setting with 20 exam rooms, 10 physicians, and 4 APPs
- Patient population includes solid tumors, anemias, and both benign and malignant cancers managed by specialized physicians
- Average daily census of 12–16 patients per provider
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule with no weekend rotation
- No on-call or holiday requirements
- No floating required — assignment is limited to the Concord location
- EMR: Epic (highly preferred); Omnicell used on the infusion side
- 16-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license currently in hand
- BLS certification required
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Oncology RN experience required; 2+ years preferred
- Outpatient clinic experience highly preferred; strong acute care oncology experience may be considered
- Proficiency in port-a-cath access and peripheral blood draws (phlebotomy) required
- Ability to triage and prioritize oncology emergencies and crises via phone
- Experience administering active chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy required
- Epic EMR experience highly preferred, including use of the messaging system
- General assessment and triage skills required
- Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Independently manage Medical Oncology clinic operations, including patient treatment plan coordination and high-level phone and in-person triage
- Serve as a clinical liaison between patients, providers, and the care team
- Experience running a Hematology clinic and/or Breast Clinic is a strong plus
- Supported daily by a Charge RN and Clinical Supervisor, with regular rounding by clinical leadership
- Orientation is 1–3 weeks depending on experience and includes shadowing
- Scheduling follows a 4-week cycle; time off requires manager approval
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Parking is available in the visitor parking deck
- A clinical interview with the manager is required prior to placement
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent (non-travel) position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
