Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with experience in acute care for a rehabilitation services position at a teaching facility in Alabama.
Details
- Rehabilitation Services unit in an acute care hospital setting
- High-acuity and complex patient population including post-cardiac and general cardiovascular surgery, post-orthopedic/joint procedures, trauma, and post-stroke cases
- 8-hour day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with hours subject to variation based on departmental needs
- 40 hours per week; 10-hour shifts are not supported by the department
- Occasional weekend rotation based on departmental needs during the contract
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage is based on departmental needs; time off requests must be submitted for any holidays the traveler cannot work
- Charting system is Cerner; prior experience not required
- No floating between facilities
- Teaching facility environment with students present on the unit
Requirements
- Current Alabama OT license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of OT experience; familiarity and/or experience in acute care is required
- Experience evaluating, treating, and managing an independent caseload
- Experience with post-cardiac, cardiovascular, orthopedic/joint, trauma, and stroke patient populations
- Comfort and willingness to work alongside students in a teaching facility environment
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Evaluate, treat, and manage an independent caseload of high-acuity patients
- Provide assistance with ADLs as part of patient care responsibilities
- Strong efficiency, flexibility, and team-player mentality are essential for success in this role
- Support structure includes a supervisor, manager, up to 6 OTs on shift simultaneously, and a full multidisciplinary team
- Orientation consists of approximately one week: Day 1 covers general hospital orientation and learning modules; Day 2 focuses on departmental training and a Cerner refresher
- Professional scrubs required; matching top and bottom in any non-eccentric color
- Free parking is available at the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- 1 professional reference from a charge-level supervisor or above within the past 12 months required for consideration
- DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration
- An interview with the hiring manager is required prior to any offer
