Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week night shift travel contract at a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level II NICU, accepting first-time travelers with a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Details

  • Work in the Respiratory Therapy Services department of a 120-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Level II NICU facility in Sheboygan, WI
  • Treatment areas include a combined stepdown/ICU (CCU), inpatient cardiac unit, MS units, inpatient behavioral health unit, and a high-volume ED with a significant pediatric population
  • Common diagnoses include COVID, COPD, ARDS, pneumonia, influenza, CHF, lung cancer, stroke, RSV, ETOH detox, overdose, and trach patients on ventilators
  • Ventilator caseload averages 2–5 vents daily across the ED and ICU
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Equipment includes Hamilton C1 (noninvasive, invasive, and high-flow), Airvo high-flow system, and Servo-U ventilators for all vented patients
  • EMR: Epic
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1700–0530
  • 36 standard hours per week
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation
  • No on-call requirement
  • Floating throughout all hospital units required

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of core respiratory therapy experience in the specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
  • RRT credential strongly preferred; CRT accepted
  • Active RT license required if applicable
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • NRP preferred; required to float to NICU/Peds
  • Proficiency in ABG punctures, airway and ventilator management, inhaled medications (MDI and nebulizer), code blue response, and EKGs (up to 10 per shift)
  • Peds and NICU experience preferred but not required
  • Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the last year
  • Middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply
  • Orientation ranges from 2–3 days up to one week depending on comfort level
  • Night shift staffing includes 2 RTs plus a charge RT who may carry a lighter assignment
  • An RT educator and on-site manager during day hours provide additional departmental support
  • Schedules are set on an 8-week cycle and provided 3 weeks in advance
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday expected per contract
  • Scrubs may be any color, including patterns and cartoons; t-shirts are permitted as long as professional in appearance
