Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity PCU/Telemetry position requiring PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years and a NY RN license.
Details
- Mixed-acuity unit serving PCU, MS Telemetry, and Med/Surg patients in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes surgical (ENT, general, trauma, ortho), overflow medical, and rare pediatric cases — travelers not assigned to pediatric patients unless experienced
- Day/weekend ratio: 1:3–5; Night ratio: 1:3–6, adjusted by acuity
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to sister units: West 2, West 3, and the Observation unit
- Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- PCU, IMC, DOU, or Stepdown experience within the last 3 years required
- Required skills include: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, Post-MI care, IV insulin protocols and drip titration, cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, thrombolytic agents, PCA management, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure management, port access, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, peripheral line and IV management, CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy care, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- PALS and TCAR experience preferred
Additional Information
- 13-week contract
- Unit orientation is 12 hours
- Any time off requests must be submitted upfront; maximum of 7 days RTO allowed for the contract
- Solid color scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted — must live more than 50 miles from the facility
