Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Medical-Renal) position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and cardiac drip management experience.
Details
- 13-week contract in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Medical-Renal patients
- Day shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Patient population includes adults and geriatric patients with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Unit specializes in Hospitalist Medicine patients with renal and medical diagnoses, and also serves as an alternative unit for GI, pulmonary, and other surgical/procedural patients
- One bed on the unit is dedicated to chronic ventilator-dependent patients
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Floating within skillset is required
- One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending license accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Prior experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting required
- Cardiac skills required: cardiac monitoring and emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip management (without titration)
- IV/line skills required: IV therapy and phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central and peripheral line care and management
- Respiratory skills required: nasal cannula and oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Must be able to participate in rapid response and code team activations and maintain isolation precautions
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
