Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position at a major cancer hospital, requiring at least 1 year of MS and oncology experience with Epic proficiency.
Details
- Mixed acuity PCU and Med/Surg unit specializing in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) oncology care
- Patient population includes hematologic malignancies such as ALL, AML, CLL, CML, Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myeloproliferative Disorders, Aplastic Anemia, and Amyloidosis
- Unit performs Autologous, Syngeneic, and Allogeneic stem cell transplants, as well as CAR-T Therapy
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation are required on this unit
- Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and are subject to change based on staffing needs
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS and ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred (chemo certification is not required)
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg and oncology nursing experience required
- Hematology oncology (Heme Onc) experience strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Skills required: MS/Tele, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and nasal cannula administration
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Heme Onc experience is strongly preferred given the complexity of the BMT patient population
- No 30-day break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs)
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
