Description

American Traveler is seeking an Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer with at least 2 years of experience performing both adult and pediatric echos, including TEEs and stress echos, for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital in Decatur, IL.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 372 staffed beds, designated as a Level II Trauma Center
  • Echo department serving both adult and pediatric patient populations
  • Adult echo procedures include bubble studies, contrast imaging, M-Mode, pharmacologic and treadmill stress echos, portable studies, RVIT, RVOT, routine studies, and TEEs
  • Pediatric echo procedures include M-Mode, portable studies, RVIT, RVOT, and routine studies
  • Procedures performed in ICU and ED settings; isolation precautions experience required
  • Rotating schedule of 5x8-hour shifts (7:00–15:30) and 4x10-hour shifts (7:00–17:30) based on department needs
  • Start times between 7:00–8:00 AM
  • On-call required: approximately every 4–5 weekends and one evening/night per week, subject to change based on department needs
  • Charting via Cerner
  • Siemens equipment experience preferred
  • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of echo technologist experience required
  • Must be proficient in both adult and pediatric echocardiography
  • Active ARDMS, RDCS, and BLS certifications required at time of consideration; AHA or Red Cross BLS accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
  • License required if applicable
  • Experience with TEEs, stress echos (pharmacologic and treadmill), and contrast imaging required
  • Experience performing procedures in ICU and ED settings with isolation precautions
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Must be able to arrive in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance start date to meet fingerprinting requirements
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Candidates who have previously worked as a permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being eligible as a traveler
  • Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO requests beyond 5 non-holiday days require facility approval
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Scrubs are provided
  • Parking permit required at no cost; form completed during orientation
  • Anesthesia and nursing students occasionally rotate through the department for job shadowing
