Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting at a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Medical-Surgical unit with night shift schedule (3x12s, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required (approximately 2 weekends per month)
- No block scheduling or special scheduling requests permitted
- This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, including mid-shift floats and potentially to units outside their primary area of competency
- Clinicians may be floated to other Cook County facilities up to 50 miles away, with as little as 2 hours' notice before a shift
- Charting via Cerner
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license — no pending licenses accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- COVID vaccination proof required — no exceptions (booster not required)
- Must be willing and able to float to a variety of units, including areas outside primary competency
Additional Information
- Local candidates are accepted and preferred; candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days at a time
- Weekend RTO will not be approved
- No RTO on holidays or the day immediately before or after a holiday
- When floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model is utilized
- Scrubs may be any color and are not provided by the facility
