Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU (Recovery Room) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PACU experience and prior ICU experience.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting, Level II Trauma Center with 248 staffed beds
- 16-bed PACU unit caring for patients across the lifespan, with pediatric experience preferred
- Patient ratios follow ASPAN guidelines: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, and 1:5
- Common cases include total joint replacement (hip/knee), laparoscopic appendectomy, laminectomy, ophthalmic surgery, ORIF, arthroscopic joint procedures, laparoscopic hysterectomy, EVAR, pacemaker insertion/lead extraction, robotic-assisted thoracoscopy/thoracotomy, TURBT, and TURP
- Special procedures performed on the unit include post-operative nerve block placement, lumbar puncture, and epidural blood patch
- Equipment includes Stryker rolling stretchers, Philips monitors, Baxter SpectrumIQ IV pumps, and Bair Hugger warming system
- Charting is done in Epic; 1 year of Epic experience is required
- Variable shift times and lengths, with a mix of 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts on days, evenings, and nights based on unit needs
- On-call required: up to three overnight call shifts per month (2100–0530) and one weekend per month (2100 Friday to 0530 Monday)
- Floating to the ICU may be required occasionally for qualified candidates
- Weekend requirements are TBD
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license; pending license applicants accepted with proof of application on file
- Required certifications (must be active): BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- Previous ICU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic charting experience required
- Required skills: telemetry interpretation, ventilator management, IV insertion, and PICC line management
- PA line experience preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- Local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- Orientation for this unit is held bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Floating to the ICU may occur occasionally for candidates with ICU qualifications
- Scrubs may be any color or pattern; teal scrubs are provided for PACU staff
- Parking is free
- Previous PeaceHealth employees (travel or permanent) should disclose prior employment, including facility and dates
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though prior travel experience is preferred
