Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a night-shift Med/Surg position on a post-surgical orthopedic unit in Nashville, TN, requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active TN or Compact RN license.
Details
- Located on the 9 Tower Surgical unit within the main tower of a large hospital in Nashville, TN
- 36-bed unit staffed by 40 RNs with 8 bedside RNs per shift
- Post-surgical patient population including vascular, bariatric, urology, general surgery, and colorectal cases
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Equipment includes bariatric-fitted ADLs, wound vacs, drains, and lifts
- EMR: Meditech
- Floating required to other Medical-Surgical units
Requirements
- Active TN or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Strong time management and efficiency skills required for a fast-paced unit with short length of stay
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if the candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Common procedures include post-op surgical site maintenance, wound care (packing, dressing changes, wound vac management), Foley catheter care with continuous bladder irrigation, ostomy care, NG tube insertion and suction, TPN, blood administration, and central line care
- Bedside shift report is standard practice on this unit
- Background in post-op surgical specialties (vascular, bariatric, urology, general surgery, colorectal) is preferred
- An outgoing, customer service-oriented personality is a strong fit for this unit
- Scrub colors: black, grey, white, or royal blue
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
