Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Acute Care travel position in Albany, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details

  • Acute care Med/Surg unit in a 483-bed hospital setting in Albany, GA
  • 14-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on both day and night shifts
  • Patient population includes diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical, amputation, wound care, DVT, ETOH, and psych patients
  • Common medications administered include Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
  • Telemetry monitoring is available on a different unit; nurses are not required to read strips
  • CNAs are available with an approximate 1:12 ratio, though they may be pulled for 1:1 assignments
  • CPAP available; BiPAP used on nights only
  • EMR system used is MEDITECH
  • Day shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (with a 6:45–7:15 handoff window)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Schedule rotates with permanent staff
  • Floating required to all acute care, cardiology, and the EC for acute care patient holds
  • 17-week contract

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or acute care nursing experience required
  • At least one prior travel nursing assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Experience at a larger, high-acuity, fast-paced hospital required; Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience does not meet this requirement
  • A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement

Additional Information

  • Primary Care Nursing model is used on this unit
  • LPNs and LPN-Cs are also utilized on the floor
  • Dress code: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, White top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all-white scrubs
  • Nail policy: polish only — no artificial, gel, or shellac nails permitted due to CLABSI prevention protocols
  • No bags allowed at the nurses' station; a personal lock for a locker may be brought
  • Strict attendance policy in place; tardiness and call-outs are tracked and may result in termination
  • Time-off requests and scheduling accommodations are honored only if arranged prior to the start of the assignment
  • Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
  • Hand hygiene compliance is monitored via badge tracking when entering and exiting patient rooms
