Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Cardiac Telemetry Unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience, surgical tele background, and night shift availability.
Details
- Surgical Cardiac Telemetry Unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes myocardial infarction (rule-out MI), primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab (with or without interventions), stroke patients with cardiac involvement, and specialized structural heart patients (VAD, TAVR, etc.)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with a possible ratio of 1:5 at midnight
- Procedures and skills utilized include: breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, epicardial pacer management, LVAD management, open heart post-op care (24–28 hours), and telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- EMR: Epic (required)
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to like units within the state; travelers must be flexible
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or valid compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
- Surgical telemetry experience required, including open heart surgery and vascular (groin/radial band management)
- Strong IV skills required
- Experience with VAD and TAVR is a plus
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Former permanent staff at any Swedish facility must have been separated for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible after a 3-month separation
- Minimal RTO is strongly preferred; excessive RTO requests may significantly impact candidacy
- RTO or scheduling requests must be disclosed at the time of submission, as post-offer requests may be denied
