Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Ortho) position at a Level I Adult Trauma Center, requiring orthopedic experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- 26-bed adult orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies
- Integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support within the unit
- Patient population includes Med/Surg, Tele, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Special procedures include bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT angiography, and heparin drips
- Epic EMR used; 1 year of experience required
- Every other weekend requirement (6 weekend shifts total)
- Floating to other units or campuses is required for agency staff, limited to areas where documented competencies are on file
Requirements
- Active SC or compact (multi-state) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele unit experience required
- Orthopedic nursing experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

- Located within a regional community teaching medical center designated as a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center — the only such designation in the Midlands of South Carolina
- Hospital features 641 licensed beds with advanced specialty programs including cardiac care, stroke, and vascular services
- Two professional references required for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from all Prisma Health facilities to be eligible at the standard travel rate; candidates residing 90–99.9 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application and are subject to facility approval
