Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position at a small acute care facility in Nebraska, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and a Nebraska or compact RN license.

Details

  • Small 32-bed acute care facility with up to 6 designated ICU beds
  • Night shift schedule: 12-hour shifts (1845–0715 or 0645–1915)
  • Schedule is 4x12-hour night shifts per week
  • 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in the ICU
  • Candidate will be 1 of 2 ICU RNs on shift
  • Equipment used includes ventilators, arterial lines, non-invasive ventilation, Hi-Flow oxygen, and Airvo
  • No floating to other units or departments
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RN license for the State of Nebraska or a valid compact (multistate) RN license
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA/ARC), ACLS (AHA/ARC), and PALS (AHA)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • 2 references required for consideration: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, execution of therapeutic interventions, patient and family education, and care coordination with the interdisciplinary team
  • Expected to provide expert-level guidance to other team members and serve as a role model
  • Orientation consists of a 4-hour general traveler orientation, followed by shadowing a floor nurse, and then 1 orientation shift with floor staff before working independently
  • Pewter grey scrubs required
  • Traveler-friendly unit and team environment
