Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in El Paso, TX, requiring at least 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience and current ACLS and BLS certifications.
Details
- 13-week contract in a Cardiac PCU (telemetry unit) located on the 3rd floor of a hospital in El Paso, TX
- 24-bed unit staffed by RNs, Charge Nurses, and PCTs on both day and night shifts
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Patient population includes post-cardiac cath lab (left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman, ablations), stroke, and COVID patients
- GE remote telemetry equipment used for patient monitoring
- EMR: Meditech
- Two weekends required per pay period
- No on-call or call-back requirements
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license (must be in hand at time of consideration)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or telemetry RN experience required
- Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Charge nurse, critical care, and monitor tech experience are preferred but not required
- Shift huddle is held at the nurse's station at the start of each shift (0645 for days, 1845 for nights) and attendance is expected
- Bedside shift report (BSSR) and updating patient communication boards are standard unit practices
- Scrub color for nurses is galaxy blue; hooded sweatshirts, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, and Crocs are not permitted
- The unit values team players with a sense of urgency who are adaptable and comfortable working in a hands-on environment
