Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position on a 5th Floor North unit in El Paso, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.
Details
- Located on the 5th Floor North of a main hospital building, a 20-bed unit
- Serves a Trauma/Neuro, Orthopedic, and general Med/Surg patient population
- Typical procedures include orthopedic surgeries (knees, hips, shoulders) and external fixator management for trauma patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 4 weekend shifts required per contract
- No on-call requirements; overtime shifts are available
- EMR: Meditech
- Equipment includes wound vacs, trach/suction, Plum 360 IV pumps, Covidien Kangaroo ePump, and Polar Ice Machines
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts, Foley insertion/management, NGT insertion/management, colostomy system exchange, and drain management (JP, Hemovac, wound vac, accordion drains)
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Preferred experience includes chest tube management and trauma nursing background
- Unit staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 2 PCTs per shift
- Scrub color requirements: Galaxy Blue, Black, Blue, or Grey jacket; natural hair color; no visible tattoos
- Unit follows Trauma/Geriatric Standards of Care and Clean Narcotic Administration practices
- Chest tube management and trauma experience are a plus and will be given priority consideration
- Local candidates are not eligible for this position
