Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of experience and active AL or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Works in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year and is staffed 24/7 by physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
- Patient population spans all age groups, including critical/trauma cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all others
- Shift hours are 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM (mids)
- Scheduled for every other weekend
- Holiday coverage required as assigned
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active AL state or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on license allowed
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency nursing
- Required certifications: AHA or Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Required certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and TNCC
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Active license must be provided for consideration — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
- Two professional references from within the last year required
- Current driver's license required
- NURSYS license verification required
Additional Information
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
- All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site skills/competency test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
- A Cardiac Exam will be administered as part of the testing process
- Virtual orientation includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
- Timekeeping is conducted via Centricity
- SECURE on-site certification is required
- Solid navy scrubs are required
