Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) position at a Level II Trauma Center in Charleston, SC, requiring thoracic and vascular experience including heart and valve replacements.
Details
- Position is based in the Heart OR (CVOR) of a 313-bed hospital in Charleston, SC
- Facility is a Level II Trauma Center with certifications in cardiac care, total joint, stroke, and chest pain
- Surgical procedures include cardiovascular/thoracic, AAA, CABG, Fem-Pop bypass, mitral and aortic valve replacements, as well as general, ortho, neuro, urology, GYN, plastics, and robotic cases
- Patient ratio is 1:1, with 1 RN and 1 CST per room, turnover staff, 1 charge RN, and 4:1 anesthesia coverage
- Equipment includes Xi robotic surgery system, Mako joint robot, and advanced spine technology
- EMR system is Meditech
- Shift hours are 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM with on-call responsibilities
- Call requirement is 3 call shifts (12-hour) per 4-week period; both days and nights available
- Travelers are scheduled every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active RN license (SC or Compact) required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR/cardiovascular OR experience required
- Thoracic and vascular experience required, including heart and valve replacements
- Strong skills in cardiac procedures: CV/PV, AAA, CABG, Fem-Pop bypass, and mitral/aortic valve replacement
- Experience as a circulating RN in general OR settings including ortho, neuro, plastics, vascular, trauma, robotic, OB/GYN, and urology
- General circulating knowledge including patient positioning, prepping, and case facilitation
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two references required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months

- Role involves circulating RN duties across cardiovascular, general, orthopedic, neurological, urological, gynecological, and robotic surgical cases
- Hospital scrubs are provided
- Facility is recognized for robotic surgery, burn care, and breast care services, and holds accreditations from The Joint Commission and the American College of Cardiology
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
