Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro night shift position at a Level II Trauma, Magnet-status acute care hospital in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• 13-week contract at an acute care hospital with 372 staffed beds and Level II Trauma designation
• Med/Surg Neuro unit with an average daily census of 32 patients
• Neurological patient population including CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:00–06:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Cerner (experience required)
• Remote telemetry monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications required at time of consideration; AHA or Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Telemetry and remote monitoring experience required
• Experience with colostomy care and feeding tube management required
• IV therapy skills required: accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication experience required: Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Surgical drain experience required
• Respiratory skills required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy management, non-invasive airway management, pre/post thoracic surgery
• Proficiency in isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred

• Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO requests ideally should not exceed 5 days; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
