Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in Las Cruces, NM, with a Monday–Friday day shift schedule and at least 1 year of experience required.
Details
- Inpatient acute care setting within the hospital's main building therapy department
- Average PT caseload of approximately 10–12 patients per therapist, not all requiring daily visits; facility average census is 120 with 199 licensed beds
- Patient population includes orthopedic, neurological, general medical, and CCU cases
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with some schedule flexibility
- One weekend day per month may be required, with a flex day offered in return during the same week
- Productivity expectation is 50% billable hours
- 1 rehab tech available to support the therapy team
- No floating required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required
- PT degree required; at least a bachelor's degree
- BLS certification required (AHA-issued)
- Prior acute care experience preferred but not required
- Experience with orthopedics, neurology, and general medical patients preferred; CCU experience is a plus
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- New Mexico state PT license required if applicable
- All clinical staff must be fingerprinted prior to or at the start of assignment per New Mexico state requirements
Additional Information
- Candidates may begin on a 14-day waiver while awaiting fingerprint results, but must be supervised during that period
- Orientation is held weekly on Mondays
- Scrubs or business casual attire are both acceptable
- The therapy team is described as highly experienced, collaborative, and long-tenured, with staff members having worked in the department for 25+ years across PT, OT, and ST disciplines
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates who are employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible
- Local candidates are accepted
