Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Labor & Delivery float position at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and AWHONN certification.

Details

• Work setting is a 632-bed short-term acute care Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital serving as a regional referral center for high-risk obstetric care
• The L&D unit features 12 LDRs, 3 ORs, 6 OB triage beds, and 8 OB Special Care beds
• The Mother Baby Center consists of 34 postpartum rooms with Baby Friendly Recognition
• Float coverage required between L&D, Mother Baby Center (MBC), and OB Special Care Unit (OBSCU) based on census needs
• AWHONN staffing model is utilized
• Shifts available: Days 7:00–19:30 and Nights 19:00–7:30 (3x12-hour shifts); shift assignment is variable and based on staffing needs, not alternating
• 3 weekends required per 4-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Charting is done in Epic; training provided during orientation

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required (compact license not accepted; MI does not participate in the Nurse Licensure Compact)
• Pending MI RN license accepted, but must be active by start date
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Intermediate or Advanced)
• AHA-issued certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
• Antepartum experience required
• Experience in a facility with 100–200 births per month required
• Level 1 Trauma setting experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Copies of certifications and State Board of Nursing/NURSYS license verification required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide labor and delivery, postpartum, and OB special care nursing across multiple units as census demands
• Pre-start modules are required and completed prior to the first day; module content varies by specialty
• Former core staff members must have been separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler (verified through HR prior to consideration)
• RTO must be submitted at the time of profile submission; RTO will not be approved after the contract is signed, with a maximum of 5 days per assignment
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travel candidates; no radius restriction applies
