Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU travel position requiring delivery attendance experience and Epic proficiency, with a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Level III NICU setting
• Patient ratios of 1:2-3 in the NICU; may float to the Normal Newborn Nursery (NOU) with ratios of 1:4-6
• Float requirement includes reassignment to the Normal Newborn Nursery (NOU)
• Patient population includes neonates requiring intensive care, as well as normal newborns
• Procedures include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, CBG/ABGs, intubations, nitric oxide administration, exchange transfusions, echocardiograms, EEGs, and x-rays
• Epic EMR experience required
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45–19:15)
• Self-scheduling with every other weekend obligation
• Holiday coverage required for at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday per contract

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must have delivery attendance experience and be willing to attend vaginal and C-section deliveries
• Proficiency in neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator management, and central line management
• Experience with medication administration via IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical routes, and eye drops/ointment
• Experience with blood product administration
• Supervisor reference dated within the past 12 months required for consideration
• Copy of Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending deliveries and assisting with newborn transition, admitting and discharging NICU and NOU patients, and coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT)
• Additional duties include parent education, breastfeeding support, and assisting with various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Grape/purple scrubs required
• RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer for the duration of the contract
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Any previous permanent employee of an LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
