Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and advanced airway management skills.
Details
- Short-term acute care teaching/trauma facility with 1,259 staffed beds
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Weekends required every third weekend
- Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
- Advanced airway management procedures include endotracheal tube management/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning
- Medication administration includes Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex
- Medication delivery via aerosol mask setup, aerosol trach setup, and metered dose inhaler
- Nebulizer types used: handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic
- Oxygen therapy includes High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Ventilator management includes BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- ABG interpretation is required
Requirements
- Current RRT credential required
- BLS (BCLS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Valid MO state license required; pending IL license acceptable for IL-based candidates (please note this on your profile if applicable)
- License required if applicable
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Additional Information
- Scrub color: medium to dark gray
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract period; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travel clinicians may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Allied travelers may remain on assignment for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break in service is required
- Monthly parking passes are available at various nearby lots and garages; rates and availability may vary
