Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Float Pool RN for a night shift position in Waterloo, IA, requiring telemetry proficiency and the ability to float across multiple units including Med/Surg, BH, ED, and ICU.
Details
- Float pool assignment in a 130-bed hospital setting
- RN will be assigned to units based on census needs, including Med/Surg, Behavioral Health (BH), ED, ICU, and post-procedural areas
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Telemetry monitoring with EKG/ECG reads, rhythm strips, and dysrhythmia interpretation required
- Drips administered include heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week may be accommodated upon request)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Holiday rotation required, including coverage of 1–2 of the following summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day
Requirements
- Active Iowa (IA) RN license or active compact/multi-state RN license required
- Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
- De-escalation certification (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, or CPI) preferred; may be obtained during onboarding
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred; may be obtained during onboarding
- Minimum 24 months of recent experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Surg Telemetry required
- Proficiency with telemetry duties including EKG/ECG reads, rhythm strips, and dysrhythmia interpretation required
- Experience and proficiency with drips: heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a score of 80% or higher during onboarding
- Driver's license required
- One supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers with a minimum of 2 years of hospital or medical center nursing experience are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- Any candidate who has been employed by UnityPoint Health (UPH) as an FTE or PRN within the past 12 months — at any UPH facility — is not eligible for this position; this restriction does not apply to those who worked travel (non-FTE/PRN) at UPH
