Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Neuro & Stroke) night shift position requiring at least 1 year of MS/Tele experience and Epic proficiency at a Level I Trauma Center in South Carolina.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- 13-week contract
- MS/Tele unit specializing in Neuro and Stroke patients, including adults with embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and neurosurgical cases such as shunt revisions, tumor removals, craniotomies, and cranioplasties
- Stroke care follows AHA guidelines consistent with a Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5
- Telemetry monitoring is remote; dysrhythmia interpretation and management are required
- Clinical skills required include starting IVs, accessing ports, managing PICC and central lines, peripheral IV care, blood product administration, and PCA and heparin protocols
- Respiratory skills required include HFNC, nasal cannula, and trach management
- Additional required skills include CVA care, spinal cord injury, TBI, pre/post neurosurgery, continuous bladder irrigation, isolation precautions, surgical drain management, and feeding tube care
- Every other weekend required
- Epic EMR used; 1 year of Epic experience required
- Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed; floating is limited to areas where documented competencies exist
Requirements
- Active SC or compact (multistate) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent MS/Tele nursing experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible for this night shift position
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security Number required for consideration

- Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center — the only such designation in the Midlands region of South Carolina
- 641-bed regional community teaching medical center with advanced programs in cardiac care, stroke, and vascular services
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of booking; requests are subject to facility approval
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
