Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Inpatient Rehabilitation (ARU) position at a Level II Trauma Center in St. Joseph, MO, working 3x12 night shifts with BSN required.

Details

• Inpatient rehabilitation unit (ARU) within a 352-bed Level II Trauma and Level II Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes post-surgical, post-stroke, CHF, total joints, hip/femur fractures, back/neck surgery, stroke/TIA, falls, weakness, AMS, and general med-surg patients requiring prolonged physical therapy, speech therapy, or occupational therapy
• Non-telemetry unit; patients may occasionally have IVs and require lab draws
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30, Monday–Sunday schedule cycle
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday block coverage required for the duration of the contract
• Weekend and holiday time-off requests must be pre-approved prior to joining the team
• Self-scheduling is available but schedule is built 6 weeks in advance; travelers joining mid-cycle may have limited self-scheduling flexibility
• Floating to like units within the hospital may be required at any time
• Charting via Epic
• Free on-site parking

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or Compact State RN license required; pending license accepted but must be in hand prior to start
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• BSN required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; first-time travelers considered with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Must pass a Basic EKG exam with a score of 80% or higher (2 attempts allowed)
• Ability to perform IV insertions and lab draws independently
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Collaborative, team-based care model working alongside physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and care management teams to plan for patient discharge from the time of admission
• Unit is actively expanding with 18 additional beds, creating multiple staffing opportunities
• Consistent attendance is essential in this role
• All organizational mandatory education must be completed
• No smoking or leaving the premises during a shift
• Extension opportunities are likely for strong-fitting travelers if open positions remain; conversion to a permanent role is possible
• Local candidates are accepted at a reduced rate for those residing within a 50-mile radius
