Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0645–1915)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities is required for all travelers
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Cerner EMR used; prior experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, cardiac, orthopedic, and general stepdown cases

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted
  • Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; RQI AHA cards not accepted
  • ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of IMC, Stepdown, PCU, DOU, or Telemetry experience required
  • Required cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry unit monitoring, Rapid Response Team utilization
  • Required cardiovascular experience: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band
  • Required IV/vascular skills: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, starting IVs
  • Required medication skills: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management with titration, PCA, procedural sedation administration
  • Required neurological experience: CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, craniotomy, Pre/Post neurosurgery
  • Required respiratory skills: ventilated patient care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management
  • Required orthopedic experience: total joint replacements, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters
  • Additional required skills: feeding tube care, Pre/Post hemodialysis management, renal failure, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, skin grafts, surgical drains
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Additional Information

  • Local candidates are accepted for this position with no radius restriction
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have a 12-month separation before being eligible to apply as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are generally accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
  • Scrubs may be any solid color
  • Parking is available on-site at no cost; a permit is required and will be obtained during orientation
