Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III night shift position requiring NRP certification and prior NICU experience in a Level III or IV setting.

Details

• Level III NICU within an acute care hospital setting
• Cares for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those under 24–28 weeks, with conditions such as respiratory distress, glucose management issues, and neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions
• Manages complex neonatal cases involving respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease presentations
• Performs and manages arterial line management, central line care, and neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions
• Oversees ventilator settings and adjustments including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BIPAP, and PEEP modes
• Administers IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids via the Pyxis medication system
• Documents patient care using Epic (Nationwide Children's instance)
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Prior NICU Level III or Level IV experience required
• Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Proficiency in gastrointestinal feeding methods and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
• Experience with IV therapy including umbilical artery and vein catheter management
• Infection control expertise required
• Two professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including NPs, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, interpretation services, and unit secretaries
• SBAR communication method is used for interaction with healthcare providers and families
• Candidates with prior experience at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) will be given special consideration
• No break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (exception applies to Sterile Processing Techs)
