Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Medical Intensive Care Unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, strong critical care skills, and a valid NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in a 33-bed, non-trauma, non-teaching community hospital in Cornelius, NC
- 4-bed ICU unit with a patient population including sepsis, ARDS, GI bleeds, DKA, cardiac arrest, withdrawal, renal failure, and other non-cardiac surgical diagnoses
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:1–2; CNA support ratio of approximately 1:10
- Critical care procedures include management of vasopressors, insulin and sedation drips, invasive lines (arterial/CVP), ventilators, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, blood products, and wound care
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, and stroke cart
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Float required to other facilities within the region (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs and within scope of practice — candidates who are not open to floating should not apply
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- General ICU skillset required: critical care drips, invasive line management, ventilator management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, and wound care
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- CNA support available for turning, feeding, ADLs, blood sugars, lab draws, and mobility; charge nurse coverage is available 24/7
- RNs are responsible for phlebotomy; limited hospital phlebotomy support may be available upon request
- Respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist (9a–11a, with VCC coverage at other hours) support available around the clock
- Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental training
- Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be made up at the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
- Schedule cycles run every 6 weeks
- Scrub color: navy
- Parking is free
- First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered with strong ICU experience
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
