Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with burn unit experience for an acute care hospital assignment in New Orleans, LA, working day shifts with weekend availability required.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in a specialized burn unit
- Patient population consists of burn patients with 0–100% TBSA burns requiring PT for mobility, positioning, pain management, and contracture/scarring prevention
- Daily patient load of up to 8 patients, with census ranging from as few as 2 during warmer months to 8 during cooler months
- Opportunity to assist with outpatient PT evaluations and therapy when inpatient census allows
- Floating within the inpatient setting is required
- Facility will consider both PT and OT candidates for this role
- Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (8:00 AM–4:30 PM)
- Weekend coverage required every weekend, plus one variable weekday shift per week
- Epic EMR used; experience required
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required
- Active Louisiana PT license required if applicable
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience or comfort working with complex wound care patients, surgical dressings, and pain-limiting conditions preferred
- Must be available to work every weekend
- Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Work history gaps of more than 30 days must be documented and explained
Additional Information
- Primary responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of burn patients, with a strong focus on mobility, positioning, and prevention of contractures and scarring
- Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Any former permanent employee of an LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered for a travel assignment
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be requested for this assignment
