Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position at an academic medical center in Chapel Hill, NC, requiring ACLS certification and experience in complex cardiovascular and thoracic critical care.

Details

• 40-bed Cardiothoracic ICU within a cardiovascular and thoracic critical care unit at an academic medical center
• Patient population includes post-surgical care for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart and lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, heart valve repairs and replacements, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, and complex esophageal, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
• Day shift: 7:00am – 7:00pm, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Every other holiday (EOH) required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) and ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited nursing school required; BSN or MSN preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation for complex cardiothoracic ICU patients using the nursing process
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate continuity of care and discharge planning
• Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required by the patient care plan
• Addresses cultural, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs as part of holistic patient care
• Background check and drug screen are required prior to start; candidates should be prepared to complete the drug screen within 24 hours of committing to the position
