Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma and Teaching Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Work in a 457-licensed-bed Level III Trauma and Teaching Hospital Emergency Department, also designated as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Patient population includes trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-op, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illness, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD
- Maximum RN patient ratio of 1:5, acuity dependent
- 12-hour night shift (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, freestanding EDs within the region, Lake Norman, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH)
- No on-call responsibilities for travelers
- EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
- TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Trauma experience, stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a 24/7 Charge Nurse, an IV/VAT Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist coverage, and ED Physicians
- Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any time off that impacts contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available on site
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
