Description
American Traveler is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for an acute care hospital position in San Mateo County, CA, with a preferred Sunday–Thursday schedule.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within a public county hospital and outpatient rehabilitation department
- Department includes a multidisciplinary team of 35 physical, occupational, and speech therapists
- Patient population includes adults with neurologic and orthopedic injuries, post-operative surgical conditions, arthritis, CVA, hand injuries, nerve injuries, tendon repairs, and upper extremity conditions
- Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts)
- Preferred schedule is Sunday through Thursday
- Epic EMR preferred
- Weekend and/or holiday coverage availability strongly preferred
Requirements
- Current CA OT license required; license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience required
- Experience with adults, skilled nursing, and acute care settings required
- Strong proficiency in ADLs, adaptive equipment, and evaluation tools
- Ability to lift or assist with lifting patients and equipment
- Must be able to provide suitable transportation between work sites
- 2 supervisor references preferred
- Full DOB and full SSN required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
Additional Information
- First week of the assignment (Monday–Friday) is dedicated to training and orientation
- Responsibilities include planning and performing OT treatments, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, providing therapeutic activities to promote independence in daily living, and completing thorough documentation
- Additional duties include splint design and fabrication, patient and family education, discharge planning, and community service referrals
- May serve as a clinical preceptor in a university-affiliated OT student program
- Spanish fluency is preferred but not required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All RTO requests require facility approval and must be submitted upfront
- Work hours may vary week to week based on departmental needs
