Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position in Lexington, KY, requiring ACLS and NIHSS certifications with strong neuro experience preferred.

Details

• 19-bed Neurosurgical ICU (2B North ICU) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes CVA, neurosurgical, carotid surgery, carotid stent, surgical post-op, cardiac interventions, sepsis, general surgery, and complex critical care patients
• Unit supports a comprehensive stroke program for patients requiring critical care placement
• 13-week contract with 36 hours per week, three 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
• Requires 3–4 weekend shifts per month

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license — KY or compact license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Annual Dysrhythmia Competency Validation
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
• Strong neuro ICU experience preferred

• Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, care coordination, patient and family education, and facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities
• Utilizes all phases of the nursing process with critical thinking and evidence-based practice
• Collaborates with an inter-professional care team across disciplines
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient safety, falls prevention, pressure ulcer monitoring, and CAUTI reduction
