Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department on night shifts, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience with at least 1 year in emergency nursing.
Details
- Work setting is a high-volume hospital Emergency Department treating more than 60,000 patients per year
- 54-bed ED designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- Serves all age groups across the full spectrum of emergency and critical care presentations
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 for critical/trauma patients and 1:3-4 for all other patients
- Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required for all holidays
- Floating to other units and hospitals required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AL state RN license or Compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on license allowed
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency nursing
- Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
- SECURE on-site certification required
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required at minimum
- Current driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

- ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 emergency care
- All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site skills test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
- Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
- Timekeeping system: Centricity
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
- NURSYS license verification required
