Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department on night shifts, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience with at least 1 year in emergency nursing.

Details

• Work setting is a high-volume hospital Emergency Department treating more than 60,000 patients per year
• 54-bed ED designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
• Serves all age groups across the full spectrum of emergency and critical care presentations
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 for critical/trauma patients and 1:3-4 for all other patients
• Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required for all holidays
• Floating to other units and hospitals required
• EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL state RN license or Compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on license allowed
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency nursing
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
• SECURE on-site certification required
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required at minimum
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

• ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 emergency care
• All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site skills test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
• Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
• Timekeeping system: Centricity
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
• NURSYS license verification required
