Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Stroke Unit (nights) requiring 2 years of experience and active AL or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Hospital-based 42-bed Heart Failure and Stroke Unit dedicated to patients with neurological and cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure and acute stroke
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals within the health system
• Uses Meditech EMR (experience not required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL state or compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or a related cardiac/neuro specialty
• Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
• NURSYS verification required
• Required documents for consideration: current state or compact RN license, driver's license, skills checklist, and 2 references within the last year

Additional Information

• Nurses on this unit work collaboratively alongside cardiologists and neurologists to deliver evidence-based care for complex neuro-cardiac patients
• Team is highly trained in managing diagnoses such as congestive heart failure and acute stroke
• Virtual orientation provided, including competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
• A cardiac competency exam will be administered after offer acceptance
• Timekeeping system: Centricity
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
