Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Stroke Unit (nights) requiring 2 years of experience and active AL or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Hospital-based 42-bed Heart Failure and Stroke Unit dedicated to patients with neurological and cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure and acute stroke
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Patient ratio is 1:6
- Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals within the health system
- Uses Meditech EMR (experience not required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AL state or compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on nursing license
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or a related cardiac/neuro specialty
- Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
- NURSYS verification required
- Required documents for consideration: current state or compact RN license, driver's license, skills checklist, and 2 references within the last year
Additional Information
- Nurses on this unit work collaboratively alongside cardiologists and neurologists to deliver evidence-based care for complex neuro-cardiac patients
- Team is highly trained in managing diagnoses such as congestive heart failure and acute stroke
- Virtual orientation provided, including competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
- A cardiac competency exam will be administered after offer acceptance
- Timekeeping system: Centricity
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
