Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position specializing in renal and limb preservation patients, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and telemetry skills.
Details
- 41-bed inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a focus on renal and limb preservation patients
- Patient population includes ESRD, ARF, vascular procedures, CHF, diabetics, and diabetic foot ulcer cases
- Peritoneal dialysis treatments are initiated on the unit by the dialysis team; hemodialysis patients are treated in a dedicated hemodialysis unit
- Patient ratio is 1:5-6
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Schedule is 36 or 48 hours per week, based on candidate preference
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required
- EMR: Epic (experience required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current BLS certification required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias required
- Must pass an EKG test prior to start
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months highly preferred; references required by start date
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 24 hours total: 2 shifts with a preceptor plus EMR education, held weekly
- 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed annually
- Interdisciplinary team includes hospitalists, RN navigators, NAs, dietary, PT/OT, and pharmacy, with daily team huddles
- Candidate must be available for an interview within 72 hours of application
- Scrubs not provided; navy or white colors required
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday
- Former permanent, PRN, or EP staff of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Contracts of longer than 13 weeks are available for interested candidates
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
