Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position in an ICU setting, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and the ability to float across multiple units including ICU, PCU, MS, and ED.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting
- Critical Care Float position based in the ICU with required floating to PCU, MS, and ED based on departmental needs
- Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, and acute shock cases
- Procedures and equipment include ventilator management, Arctic Sun, IABP (infrequent), Cath Lab, TR bands, sheath pulls, EEGs, cardioversion, and stress tests
- Nurses must be prepared to manage higher patient ratios when floating to PCU or MS
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Cerner EMR — prior experience required
- Scrub colors: red top, black bottoms
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license — must be in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current AHA or RQI certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required; strong PCU experience is a plus
- Experience floating to PCU, MS, or ED strongly preferred
- Ability to manage higher patient ratios across multiple unit types
- Cerner EMR experience required
- RN degree from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- All travelers may be floated within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break in employment before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of IU Health travel employment are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break
