Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OB/L&D RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring at least 2 years of OB/L&D experience, an active MN RN license, and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Acute care OB/L&D unit within a Level III trauma hospital
- Patient population includes postpartum, stable antepartum, newborns, GYN, med-surg overflow, and SCN support
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN Standards: 1:3 for mom/baby couplets, 1:5 for GYN/med-surg patients, and 1:3–4 for pediatrics
- Average census includes approximately 5 couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 GYN, 2 labor, and 4 SCN patients
- Support staff include a ward clerk (0700–1900), CNA (Tue–Thu), charge nurse, resource nurse, and LPN scrub nurse — all without patient assignments
- Charting via Epic (Epic OneChart); additional equipment includes Omnicell, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medela Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call Light System, and Medfusion Pumps
- 12-hour night shifts with every 3rd weekend required
- Floating is expected, primarily as helping hands, but travelers may be required to take a med-surg or telemetry patient as needed
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required; temp or pending MN license may be considered depending on start date timeline
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP
- PALS certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of OB/L&D experience required, including postpartum
- Epic EMR experience required; candidates without Epic experience should indicate their primary EMR system
- Ability to float to med-surg and telemetry as needed
- Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
- All certifications must be active at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include caring for postpartum, antepartum, newborn, GYN, and med-surg overflow patients, as well as serving as a 2nd RN in the SCN as needed
- Experience circulating in L&D is a plus
- Unit and equipment orientation provided on the first day
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate
- Navy blue scrubs required
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Holiday coverage expectations follow the unit's standard scheduling practices to fill vacancies related to staff onboarding, open positions, and FMLA
