Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Patient population includes chronic diseases, CHF, mental health, addiction services (IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care
- Average daily census of 51 patients
- Telemetry monitoring with cardiac rhythm interpretation required; experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), IV starts, blood products, wound care, and care of patients with tubes/drains
- EMR: Epic
- Equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional need — candidates must be agreeable to floating to all facilities within the region
- Travel time between facilities when floating mid-shift is compensated
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, IV insertion, blood product administration, and wound care
- Epic EMR experience
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- One professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following permanent employment before being eligible
Additional Information
- Support team includes a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, a Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
- Orientation consists of NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; contracted hours must be fulfilled
- Scheduling runs on a 6-week cycle with both day (0700–1900) and night (1900–0700) shifts available within the unit
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
