Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Magnet teaching hospital, requiring IBCLC certification and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

  • Labor & Delivery unit in a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
  • Weekend work required
  • Floating within the hospital is required; no floating to sister hospitals
  • Charting via Epic (preferred but not required)
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • 13-week contract minimum

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or compact license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and IBCLC
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience
  • At least 2 travel assignments beyond initial hospital employment required — first-time travelers are not eligible
  • Proficiency with newborn care including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration
  • Proficiency with magnesium infusions, insulin infusions, PCA/PCEA infusions, and heparin infusions
  • Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
  • COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions
  • 2 professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including lactation consulting services
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rates — no radius restriction
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 1 week for the duration of the contract; RTO cannot be requested during orientation week
  • Prior UW staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Daily parking is available on-site at cost to the employee
