Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a weekend day shift travel contract in Springfield, MO, requiring Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and proficiency in both scrub and circulator roles.
Details
- Main OR setting within a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center hospital
- OR has 22 main beds, 8 ASC beds, and 10 Ortho beds
- Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Performs interventional vascular cases in the OR and Hybrid Imaging suite, as well as Endo and Open cases
- Equipment includes various surgical instrumentation and the DaVinci robotic surgical system
- EMR: Epic
- Day shift, 3x12s, Friday through Sunday, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- 13-week contract
- On-call required on any scheduled day, averaging 5 or fewer call instances per 8-week period
- Floating required as needed by the facility
Requirements
- Active RN license — must hold a Missouri RN license or be eligible for MO licensure (Compact license accepted if eligible)
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience required; teaching hospital experience may be considered
- Scrub and OR Circulator experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Vascular experience required
- Competency in conscious sedation required
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., and kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed
Additional Information
- Assists the Vascular Surgeon in the OR and Hybrid Imaging suite, and collaborates with a team of nurses and surgical techs for Endo and Open cases
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for travelers working between November 1 and April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up within the assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be billed at a reduced rate
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility; after that, a 1-year separation or reassignment outside the 50-mile radius is required before returning
